VENUE INFORMATION:

 

Location: Iowa State University State Gymnasium 2642 Union Dr, Ames, IA 50011

 

Weigh-ins and physicals: 8-10 AM

 

Coaches and officials meeting: 12:00 PM

 

Event start time: 1 PM

 

Parking: You may park in lots on campus with signs that allow for parking on the weekends

ISU EVENT RULES:

 

  1. This event is open to both collegiate and amateur boxers over the age of 18.

  2. All boxers must be registered with USABoxing for the current season, have a current physical before arriving at the venue, and have a physical copy of their athlete passbook with an updated USABoxing membership card inside.

  3. Boxers must sign a liability waiver provided through Iowa State University before participation.

  4. Competition uniform and protector guidelines are as follows:

    1. Boxers must box in lightweight boots or shoes (without spikes or heels) and socks (not to be worn higher than knee length).

    2. The length of the shorts must not be shorter than mid-thigh, cannot cover the knee, and must not be worn above the belt line. The belt line is an imaginary line from the navel to the top of the hips and must not cover the navel.

    3. The belt line must be clearly indicated by a contrasting color and by using a 2-4 inches wide elastic waistband (the belt line is an imaginary line from the navel to the top of the hips).

    4. Sport hijab and modest dress are allowed for female boxers; for example, long-sleeved, fitted shirts and tights are allowed under competition jerseys and trunks.

    5. Detailed specifications on uniforms can be found in Boxers’ Uniform Guidelines (see Appendix E in the USABoxing rulebook).

    6. All wraps must meet USABoxing specifications (see USABoxing rulebook) and be signed by the equipment inspector before competition.

    7. The equipment inspector will check mouthpieces and USABoxing-approved headgear before the competition, and they must be worn during the competition.

  5. Per USABoxing rules, any boxer who competes or has competed in amateur combat sports is eligible to compete if the following requirements are met:

    1. Individuals who have competed in amateur combat sports must declare their record at the time of registration for USA Boxing membership.

    2. Individuals must complete a form verifying records (see Appendix K in the USABoxing rulebook). 

    3. An amateur boxer shall not compete against a professional boxer or professional athlete of another combat sport.

  6. Coaches must be registered and certified with USA Boxing, have a towel and clear water bottle, and have a physical copy of their coach’s passbook with an updated USABoxing membership card inside (must have updated Safe Sport and Green Level or higher coaching certification). 

  7. Clubs must be registered with USA Boxing to be acknowledged.

  8. All participants must adhere to the USA Boxing Code of Conduct (see Appendix B and C in the USABoxing rulebook). Individuals deemed guilty of misconduct will be immediately barred from all tournament facilities and required to leave at their own expense and may be subject to further disciplinary action. Code of Conduct also covers inappropriate social media posts (this is a USABoxing rule).
