When is the tournament? 

The NJ Golden Gloves will be held every weekend during the month of March 2025 beginning on March 7th, with the finals will be held on April 4th & 5th .    

Where will the tournament be?   

The NJ Golden Gloves tournament will be held at various locations throughout the state. Please check the schedule on our website for times and locations. www.NJGOLDENGLOVES.com

What are the weight classes? 

This year the NJ Golden Gloves Tournament will conduct competition in 10 weight classes for both the men and women.  

Male –     110 , 121 , 132 , 143 , 154 , 165 , 176 , 187 , 198 , 198 +

Female –  106 , 112 , 119 , 125 , 132 , 143 , 154 , 165 , 176 , 176+ 

Will there be weight allowances?  

No, there will be no weight allowances for any bout contested during the tournament. All boxers must weigh in on the night they are scheduled to compete and make their chosen weight. Failure to make weight will result in elimination from the tournament. 

How do I register for the tournament?  

This year the NJ Golden Gloves registration will be conducted online via webpoint.  Registration will be open from January 3rd through February 7th . No entries will be accepted after registration has closed. There will be no exceptions.

What divisions will be contested?  

The 2025 NJ Golden Gloves will once again conduct competition in 3 different divisions Open, Novice and Sub-Novice. Open class boxers will compete in a single elimination tournament, Novice and Sub-Novice will compete in a double elimination tournament. In double elimination a boxer must be defeated twice to be eliminated from the tournament . Failure to report to weigh in and make weight on the night you are scheduled to box will result in elimination from the tournament.

Division Requirements 

Open Class Boxers must: Be registered through web point. Be 18 years of age or older prior to March 7th, 2025. The maximum age is 40 years. Be registered with USA Boxing. Be a New Jersey Resident. Have a current physical uploaded to their profile in webpoint. Have a birth certificate uploaded to their profile in webpoint. Have 10 or more bouts. Be registered through web point. Compete in open face head gear. Be clean shaven to step on the scale. 

Novice Boxers: 

Must be registered with USA boxing. Must be a New Jersey resident. Must have less than 10 bouts. Must be 18 years of age or older prior to March 7th, 2025. The maximum age is 40 years. Must be registered through web point. Have an updated physical uploaded their profile. Must be clean shaven to step on the scale.

Sub-Novice Boxers

Must be registered with USA Boxing. Have an updated physical uploaded to their profile. Must be a New Jersey Resident. Must be 18 years of age or older prior to March 7th, 2025. The maximum age is 40 years. Must have fewer than 3 bouts. (0,1, or 2 bouts qualify) Must be registered through web point. Must be clean shaven to step on the scale.

Is there an entry fee?   

Yes, the entry fee will be $25.00 with an additional web point transaction fee of $5.00. Late registration fees will apply after January 14th. 

How do I Qualify for the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions?  

All open class boxers with 10 or more bouts who win the NJ Golden Gloves State Tournament through competition are eligible. Only open class boxers with ten or more bouts may participate at the National Tournament. Walk over champions at the local level can qualify for the National New Jersey Team, but accommodations to the National Tournament will be at the boxer’s expense. Walkover champions will not be awarded trophies at the local level. Winners of the open class division may be required to provide their own travel and lodging to the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions. NJGG will make every effort to subsidize travel arrangements.

Do coaches, judges, and officials need to register?

Coaches, judges, and officials must register for the 2025 NJ Golden Gloves Tournament. All information about bout sheets, tournament weigh in times and results will be directly emailed only to those who register via web point system. There is no charge to register for coaches, judges, and officials.

Where will the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions be held?  

This year the national tournament will be conducted in Tulsa Oklahoma. Tournament will be held in early May 12th thru May 17th,2025 

Is there an opportunity for boxers under the age of 18? 

Yes, we once again invite those boxers under the age of 18 to register for the Future Stars Program. The Future stars bouts will conducted as pre-matched bouts that will be placed on the on each night of the tournament. If there happens to be an abundance of entries in a particular weight class and division and we can form a bracket, we will conduct it as part of the tournament and champions will be crowned. The entry fee for this event will be $15.00 plus a $5.00 web point. All bouts in the Future Stars program are pre-matched by the NJ Golden Gloves administration. Boxers will need to check the bout sheets for their assignments.
